When I was little I remember taking a trip to tour a coal mine and returning with a souvenir...my very own piece of coal (I guess I wasn't taking any chances with Santa that year). Nobody was ever more excited to own a piece of coal than I was that day. However, I also remember my mother returning with a beautifully carved coal statue of an eagle. It was lovely! I was reminded of that when I discovered these beautiful coal figurines made from North Dakota lignite coal and crafted by an artist in Beulah, North Dakota...
