The other day I was sharing a story with a friend from out of state about how I had recently taken a trip up to the Thousand Islands. He said "What's that? I thought Thousand Islands was a salad dressing". Well, he is right, but the salad dressing was named after a beautiful tourism area in upstate New York collectively called the Thousand Islands.
